About me
I'm Val Neff-Rasmussen, and I write this blog.
I grew up in Michigan, but left for five years to attend college and then work in Charm City (that's Baltimore, Maryland, hon). In 2010 I moved back to Michigan to start a new life focused on food.
I have been fortunate in the last couple of years to live and eat in France for a number of months, and I chronicled those trips here. But I actually continue to eat even when I am not in France, and eventually it seemed like time to start writing about what I eat at home - and thus, what I bake and cook, as well.
I anticipate this blog will be part memoir, part cookbook, and part verbose rambling. I hope you will enjoy the former and forgive me for the latter. If you would like to contact me, you can reach me at cherryspurtle (at) gmail (dot) com.
Finally, for full disclosure, I'd like to mention that I receive no compensation, monetary or otherwise, for anything that I post on this blog. If I rave about something I read or ate or did, it's because I loved it and think you might, too - not because I'm being paid to say so.
Bienvenue !
PS - yes, spurtle is a real word.
